About Papa Fox

I grew up in Tyler, Texas. Typical family of the 50s and 60s. I have one older brother. My dad was a geologist and my mother a homemaker. Our first televsion was black and white and we had an attic ceiling fan prior to central air. Great times, with kids out playing until supper. Life was simple.

Writing was always in my family, from grandfather to my father and passed on down. I loved poetry. Robert Louis Stevenson was my favorite poet. My mother bought "A Child's Garden of Verses" which I fell in love with. Later we had Bob Dylan and his poetic tunes and Rod McKuen.

I wrote my first poem in 1st or 2nd grade. I just remember it was called, In" God we Trust." I got it off the front of a penny. Wish I still had it. In the 4th grade I wrote about a fair maiden, the only verse I remeber is, "At once me friends I was told there lived a fearless Kinght of bold". Many other poems were lost long ago.

I wrote most of them back in High School. That seemed to be the most challenging times of growing up. My parents were getting divorced which was taboo in the early 70s. Dylan, The Stones, The Doors, and Beatles were all in full force. Great times. Times of free love and rebellion.

I made it through Baylor University, moved to Dallas, married Suzanee, forty six years ago, and raised two sons along the way. I've been in the Houston area for over 39 years, working in ophthalmic surgical sales. Blessed to have three grandsons and one granddaughter, finally some pink has entered this male dominat family.

All these little fun and crazy kids, finally spurred the book, The Land of Gagoo. It is a fun family project that has finally catapluted me to fame within the confines of the Fox household. My hope is that all families with little ones will relate and enjoy it. If it gets a smile or sparkle out of your childs eye, than it has been a success.

Faith Family and Friends.
